About Little Lungs

Climate and air, designed for a child's room

Little Lungs designs and installs climate control and indoor air quality for one room: the one a child sleeps in. We work in the South Bay, the Westside and Beverly Hills, for children from newborns to teenagers.

Whole-house heating and cooling is designed around the whole house. A child's room is one small room with one occupant who can't get up and open a window, and it often runs warmer, cooler, drier or noisier than the rest of the home. Little Lungs exists to give that room its own answer: sized, not guessed, and installed to a defined standard.

How we work: Assess, Optimize, Certify

Every job runs the same three steps, and nothing in steps two and three happens without a written scope and your go-ahead.

01

Assess

The Free Air Check: we evaluate the child's room, the existing HVAC, filtration, comfort, humidity and the indoor air environment. Free, with no obligation.

02

Optimize

Nursery Climate Design: a combination of climate control, filtration and air purification designed around the room and the child, quoted in writing.

03

Certify

The Certified Install: the work done to the written scope, then the room measured again against it.

The standard we hold ourselves to

  • Sized for the room. Equipment comes from an ACCA Manual J load calculation run for the single room, not a rule of thumb per square foot.
  • Measured where the child sleeps. Readings are taken at crib or bed height, not at the thermostat.
  • Air is its own decision. The U.S. EPA states that ductless mini splits generally do not filter fine particles, so filtration is planned separately.
  • Written before it's sold. You get a scope and a price before anything is ordered. We don't quote from a phone call.
  • Plain about what we do. We design for comfort, quiet, a steady temperature and cleaner-feeling air. We don't make medical claims, and questions about your child's health belong with your pediatrician.

Who we work with

We work with families at five points: expecting parents, parents of babies and infants, families managing asthma or allergies, health-conscious families, and people looking for a meaningful gift for a new family. Little Lungs works with leading manufacturers including Mitsubishi Electric and Aerus Air Scrubber Plus.

Read our guides

Everything we know about a child's room is written down in our guides for Los Angeles parents: what temperature a baby's room should be, what size mini split a room needs, mini split vs window unit and what one costs in Los Angeles. Shorter answers are on the blog.
