But the published number is measured in a lab; in a small room it depends on where the head is mounted relative to the crib, whether it's set to a low fan speed, and whether the installer positioned the outdoor unit away from the nursery wall. Ask for the dB(A) figure on the specific model, and ask where the head will go.
The U.S. EPA states that ductless mini split heat pumps generally do not filter fine particles from the air passing through them; the screen inside the head protects the coil. A mini split is a comfort system. If cleaner-feeling air with fewer visible dust particles is part of what you want for the room, that's a separate design decision — a filter with a documented MERV 13 rating where the system supports it, or a portable air cleaner sized to the room. Budget for it as its own line, and be wary of any quote that folds an unrated "air purifying" claim into the price of the head.
